Sick of feeling like a tent in your pregnancy clothing? As a Stylist, I’ve had my fair share of clients who are pregnant and want fabulous maternity style.
They don’t want tops covered in childish prints, horribly cut tunics and poor quality clothing – they just want to look decent and get on with their busy day!
While finding chic maternity clothing seems difficult, it’s not – and as a seasoned baby bump sprucer I can tell you that it’s all about getting your inspiration first so you can look at the clothing racks with fresh eyes. Believe it or not, you don’t need to wear designated maternity wear during your pregnancy as much as you may think. Sure you need the basics, two good pairs of pants, some fitted tops that are long enough and a damn good bra – but everything else can be faked. Just check out some of my favourite maternity style goddesses here!
My favourite maternity style is all about layering, playing around with longer style gilets and pea coats are great options for winter. They’re simple outfit updaters that can be worn over a simple striped tee or a bold coloured top. Utilize scarves to add some length to your figure and make ankle boots your friend. Boots naturally have a little extra room in them so when your feet swell, you’ll still be comfortable. You can even get some with a slight heel if you’re more of a high feels to flats type girl.
Amongst pregnant fashion bloggers, trench coats and boyfriend jeans are a favourite. The boyfriend jean sits lower on the hip and is looser and comfortable and the trench coat can be tied to fit your empire line and still give you style! If you love boho style, don’t forget that you won’t need to belt your maxi dresses, you can wear them with a leather and denim jacket to stay warm and throw on some cute ankle boots!
