My Home Organisation Rampage

Home Organisation ideas - title card

Part of my job as a Stylist is to help clients maintain an interchangeable and organised wardrobe. Organising for me is contagious, I love containers and my Dymo labeller. The other day when my labeller ran out of labels, I felt like throwing my Ikea step ladder, that I was standing on, through the window.

You know when you’re just on a home organisation rampage, and midway there’s a distraction? Next time it happens, you’re welcome to come to this blog post and tell me all about it. I’ll listen to you; I know what you’re going through.

So over the last few weeks, work has been incredibly busy. The start of the new season has had female clients calling to book for my almost booked out September sessions and the end of Winter has had some of my busy male clients just realising they forgot to shop and they’re cold and need my help. If that’s you, it’s going to okay!

On Tuesday I got out of bed at the un-chic hour of 2.30am for a job with HBO and was praising the fashion gods that I’d been on a bit of an organising spree. Every few months I like to go through my wardrobe and try everything on to make sure I only keep what I love. We have to be the door bitch to our wardrobes sometimes, and when I went through, I did a quick organise.

So that I didn’t wake my boyfriend up at 2.30am, I was happy (and he probably was too) that I didn’t make much noise getting ready. I installed soft lighting into my wardrobe, and I’ve organised it by style and colour so when I knew that I wanted to wear my burgundy wrap top with long sleeves – I knew precisely where it was.

Unfortunately, my work schedule can make the rest of my apartment look like the site of a sample sale – the type people have camped out for. And now with my boyfriend around so much, he’s got a bit of his stuff here too. Sydney, as we know, is void of storage, so we have to be handy and often living in such a fun city- we’d rather go out somewhere fun then do some home organising. I hear you – but just hold on a second.

It can be fun.

Get yourself a home organising playlist and get your shit together because we’re going to do some home organising together. Here’s where I always start with organising: MOTIVATION.

If cute shelf merchandising, fun labellers or beautiful images on Pinterest aren’t around to motivate me – then good luck getting me to organise areas other than my wardrobe. I have to be primed, and this post is going to prime you right up for organising along with me.

Over the next few months, I’m going on a huge home organisation rampage and I’ll show you what I’ve come up with. This will include my bathroom cabinet, wardrobe, and office because a clean and organised space will help you get organised.

As you know, we’ve already touched on a few organising tips here on the blog so if you’re new (HELLOOOO!!! WELCOME!), have a look at how I organise my jewellery and how to give your wardrobe a spring clean and then a super fabulous organise. I’ll be adding to these down the track so check back if you haven’t read up on these in a while.

Now, let’s talk motivation, I’m a Pinterest fanatic, and I suggest you strut on over there and check it out. Beware, it’s a time machine and can cause you to accidentally surf the web until the wee hours of the morning. I’ve picked some of my favourite organising images for your perusal and feel free to give me a follow if you want to stay up to date with my pinning!

Now, I’m off to Ikea to pick up some goodies for my kitchen – see you soon!
