This may be news to some, but your work bag doesn’t have to be an ugly monstrosity made of velcro, canvas fabric, and KitKat wrappers. It can be sleek and leather and can hold all the essentials, including said KitKat wrappers and any and all work-related confectionary, alcohol or weaponry, plus it’s a much chicer option in any Effortless Bitches opinion.
Last month we were lucky enough to shoot some gorgeous product to introduce the That Effortless Bitch audience to Simpatica. We came across Simpatica only recently and discovered that they’re a chic little Australian label producing leather goods to Effortless Bitches all over Australia. Their range is well made, classic in design and impressive in functionality.
So this month we’ve decided to run a give away for one lucky subscriber to win one of their beautiful clutch bags that’s just the right size to fit your iPad and a notepad in as well as your red lippy. The Bree Pouch is up for grabs and is perfect for work, everyday and evening use, so don’t forget to enter by the 10th of December because this clutch is the perfect accessory to add to your core wardrobe.
The size of our clutch to phone ratio is no longer the only problem us Effortless Bitches face when preparing for party season. Over December and the New Year we’re subjected to long hours of dancing, shimmying or awkwardly standing along the side of the dance floor in heels that, if given our time over, we wouldn’t have worn.
Our foreheads become so shiny that our friends don’t bother waiting for the line up to the bathroom to check their makeup because they can clearly see themselves just by looking at us and, our spanx become more reliable than the morning after pill because, lets face it, those things aren’t coming off without a chainsaw and some butter. So, because party season is fast approaching, I’ve decided to list my top essentials to help you get through it effortlessly. Take notes.
Ever fallen so in love with a piece of clothing or an accessory that all you want to do is wear it everywhere, take a thousand photos of it and drop its existence in your wardrobe into as many conversations as possible? You’re not alone. Effortless Bitches have a love for the items in their wardrobe because everything they have in there is special, it’s been there through thick and thin (mainly because it’s excellent quality) and, it’s exactly your style.
A few months ago I had the pleasure of being introduced to Heather McDowall, one of Sydney’s premiere milliners. She’s just had an extremely busy Melbourne cup season, but unlike popular opinion, the desire to wear great head pieces doesn’t only apply to the races. I had a chat with Heather recently about her collection, where you can wear head pieces and why they’re a great addition to any social butterflies wardrobe. Prepare your wardrobes (and your savings account).
A little while ago I sat down with Michelle from Get Dressed Hire, a boutique business that hires out great designer dresses to women in need of something special to wear out and about.
Tell us about Get Dressed Hire, what makes it so popular amongst women?
We all have a cupboard full of dresses that we’ve only worn once, and don’t want to wear to every formal event. Get Dressed is so popular because it gives women the chance to wear a dress they wouldn’t normally spend a fortune on, plus they won’t have a dress sitting in the wardrobe that they’ll never wear again. They no longer have to feel guilty about shopping for dresses and can pick up a designer dress at a fraction of the price! Our clients also love the personal, friendly service, convenient location and flexible opening hours.
What brands do you hire out?
We hire out a wide range of designers, including Galanni, Bronx & Banco, Portia and Scarlett, Nicholas the Label, Manning Cartell, Sherri Hill, Jovani, Talulah and many more!

Pst: She’s also the amazing bitch with the makeup brush behind all of our photoshoots, so you know she’s the real deal.
BOO! Borrow your neighbours crocs and socks cause it’s October and Halloween is just around the corner!
For anyone who knows me personally, they know that Halloween is my favourite time of year. Over Christmas, Valentines Day and even my own birthday, Halloween takes the cake. Who doesn’t want to be someone else for a night and dance like nobody knows you? Sign me up!
With Christmas coming up, I thought I’d do two halloween posts. One for those who are saving for christmas presents and holidays and don’t want to spend much on their costumes, and the second post which will be released very soon about how to put in a little extra effort this halloween. So I’ve got everyone covered, the die hard halloween lovers and the ‘holy crap, Halloween is this month?! I need costume inspiration!’ type person.
So let’s get started.
Getting your wedding party styled in the perfect way can be tough work, knowing how to dress your bridesmaids when they all have different bodies, styles and skin tones is just the beginning of it all. So this week I’m narrowing down on part two of five of our Wedding Stylists tips post and it’s all about the bridesmaids.
This is often one of the longest, toughest exercises of wedding preparation, finding the right dress to suit multiple bridesmaids is harder than you think, but hopefully my help will make things a little easier.
This post is number two in a five part series, if you missed the first one, you can find it here!
Not all of your Bridesmaids will look fantastic in the same colour, there a little things you can do to make it work even when the fabrics and your friend just don’t seem to mix. The first thing you can do is add some accessories. If half your Bridesmaids don’t suit the colour dress you’ve chosen but the other half do, adding an accessory in your friends best metal colour will help to bring colour back to their face.
To choose the best metal for your Bridesmaid, head into a store like Collette or Lovisa and pick up both a gold and a silver necklace. Hold it close to your friends face and look around her eyes, move that necklace away and try the other metal. When you have the necklace that makes her skin look radiant, that’s the metal you should try to include in her Bridesmaids outfit.
Eek!!! We’ve all had our fair share of awkward parties where we strategically worked the room according to where our ex was standing in order to avoid them, so isn’t time you work out what to wear when seeing your ex?
The way we carry ourselves changes when we reluctantly come in close proximity to them, making our anxious minds reel and think; ‘I wish I wore something different’, ‘I want to show him how great I feel now’, ‘Do I look like mutton dressed up as lamb?’. It depends on your circumstances but there’s always one nagging thought but for an Effortless Bitch, the outfit isn’t the problem.
Whether you ended your relationship on good or bad terms the feeling of confident progression is what we aim to portray to our exes. Is it about showing off your new partner, your cleavage or your new car because you finally got that promotion you’d been pining for after so long? No, it’s about showing how happy you are and how good you feel, it starts with feeling good from the moment you step out of that shower and slip on that outfit. So, what do you wear?
What are you wearing for Halloween?
Halloween is this month, the 31st of October, and if you’re like me, you’re shaking with so much excitement that you can’t even paint your nails without making your hands look like road kill. Although, if you had to make them look like road kill, halloween would be the time to do that.
With the help of my lovely team, we’ve put together a few looks to get you in the mood for Saturday night. And here they are:
Use a curling iron to make your hair wavy, slip on a boho gown and weave some flowers through your hair. If you aren’t too good with flower arrangements, you can purchase a flower crown from stores like Myer and Lovisa.
Years ago there was no such thing as a Bridal or Wedding Stylist, the person who helped the bride get her wedding parties outfits into order. It usually took a trip to the store and a little bit of faith that the dresses and suits you picked for the bridesmaids and groomsmen would look good on every figure, often to find that when you finally got the garment onto your special friend that it didn’t quite look the way you imagined it.
Shopping for yourself, let alone your bridal party is tough work. Sometimes theres conflicting ideas as to what colour, shape or style the bridesmaids or groomsmen should wear and it can all be just a little bit too much with everything else going on that you have to plan. So this is where I come in and wave my magic cocktail ring.
I’ve got so much I want to tell you so I’ve decided to make this post a series post, meaning that there will be five parts to this, just because I’m not one for overloading information, even if it’s informative. Remember, even though I’m all the way over in Sydney, which may be far away for some readers, these tips still apply.
I'm a Fashion Stylist, Image Consultant and Effortless Bitch leader trying to create a community of women with a positive body image, even winged liner and amazing core wardrobes.
