DECLUTTER THE EX-PURCHASES
Three Things To Do That Will Lift Your Style & Make You Feel Better.
Sometimes when I'm helping new clients, particularly recently single ones, I'm asked 'Are you Crazy, Stupid, Loving me?' and my answer is always yes. I love that movie, particularly the makeover scene which I've linked below. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Crazy, Stupid, Love is a romantic comedy featuring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Julianne Moore, about a husband who is struggling to get over his wife who cheated on him. It's definitely worth the watch, if not for the comedy aspect, for the fashion.
When the breakup first happens, sometimes you just need to get away from all of the reminders of that person you loved. You might go visit a friend or family member, or take yourself on a mini-getaway, or you might not have time for either of those things and just get back into the swing of things like work, but there's one thing every morning that will serve as a reminder that you can nip in the bud today. Clothing.
If you've got clothing in your wardrobe that your ex got for you, it's time to remove them. Bag up the items, take them to a charity shop and give your wardrobe a good clean. This will help you to feel refreshed and like you can finally start working on the style you want.
Before you take the jump, just consider if this is going to leave you with nothing in your wardrobe. If so, remove the ones that have the most emotion attached to them and hold on to the rest until you have time to replace them.
There's nothing vain about self-care, so get into the habit of looking after yourself. This means taking care of your skin, hair and body. Don't forget the little things like toes and fingernails, when you eventually break back into the dating world, claw like toe nails and rough dry hands aren't a good look.
Book yourself in for three sessions, one, a hair cut, including a your beard if you have one. Don't go for the same old thing, try something new to give you a nice change. Ask your hair stylist what products to use and how to use them so you don't just have good hair days on the days you leave the salon.
The second session should be booked with a nail salon. Don't feel weird about going, men go to them as well, plus it's relaxing to have a mens manicure and pedicure. All they'll do is help remove dead skin, give your hands and feet a refresh and get those nails under control.
Number three is an appointment with a skin specialist for a facial. They'll teach you about what products to use on your skin on a daily basis, like sunscreen and moisturiser for your skin type, and you'll walk out of the salon feeling and looking brighter and fresher.
